Your #17 ranked Lady Firebirds traveled to Avondale Saturday to face the #16 ranked SJP2 Lions on for their State Tournament Play-in game. Freshman Striker Mireya Sauceda started off the scoring in the 34′ with a rebound goal, the 1-0 lead would take both teams to the half.
Fellow Freshmen Paisley Leitzell (assisted by Sauceda) and McKenzie Jost added second half goals to seal the victory. The Lions added a late goal and the game ended 3-1.
The Lady Firebirds will take on #5 Gilbert Christian Wednesday at 6pm in the opening round of the 3A State Tournament.

Mireya Sauceda was all about pressure in today’s game. She scored a goal and assisted another, but it was her consistent pressure on the Lions’ back four that was a huge game changer.
